Out of the two places for sushi I have been in Cranbrook Nikko is by far the best for taste.
Clean, relaxed atmosphere but a bit dated for sure.
Parking on the street only takes quarters and only good for an hour.
Awesome for sushi lunches!
Probably be back! -

3.5 stars - without anything "wowing" me, I've left it at 3.
I'm used to Vancouver sushi, so, my expectations are high. Yes, I know this is Cranbrook, home of every Canadian fat (fast) food joint. So, mitigated expectations. A bit.
The name has changed (I'll go take a picture the next time I walk by to confirm) but it sounds like the rest is the same.
Atmosphere: standard sushi joint, nothing stands out. We were seated in a booth that was more practical than comfortable.
Service: pleasant and friendly, with some communication barriers. I'm a native English speaker that talks quickly; I had to slow down, enunciate, and change my vocabulary a bit. Not a problem for me, might be for others.
Menu: I was disappointed. It's difficult to figure out what exactly is in each roll - some are listed on their main menu, others you have to ask. Luckily the staff know their rolls!
As well, not everything on the menu is clearly explained. What is "Sp. Sashimi?" (spicy sashimi salad - I was told it was mixed, random sashimi but it was just tuna and salmon in mine).
Finally, it's extra for sashimi in the all you can eat menu ($5 pp at the time of review) and even then à max of 6 pieces per table.
This is where the place lost the most marks for me. I'd say this is an excellent deal for lunch, not for much for dinner.
Meal: the food was mostly tasty. Adherence to allergy requests was perfect. The presentation was lovely. Some rolls were great, a few tasted really funky. What I did notice though was they all seemed the same, essentially.
Also, not everything we ordered was brought out. They intentionally waited to give us the remainder of our order. A bit odd, that's a first for me. My daughter said no, she was full, didn't want any more (no surprise, the rolls were heavy on the rice). I however wanted the rest of what I'd ordered. Communication barrier time: only received one more of the extra three things pending. Ah well.
Will I return? Yes. For lunch. -

We drove all the way from Fernie to Cranbrook to have their sushi buffet lunch. The price is great. Service was alright. The appetizers and hot grills food were great! The sushi rolls were falling apart, full of rice and tasted awful.

Great lunch spot in downtown Cranbrook. Prices are reasonable and the sashimi and sushi are fresh.

Stopped into Nikko Sushi on the way through Cranbrook and were delighted with the fantastic food.
Spinach and tuna gomaee was intriguing and delicious! It was an enormous portion - good for sharing. Excellent quality tuna.
Chicken Katsu-don was grilled to perfection with light flavours.
None of the dishes were what we expected (in a very good way).
Will plan to stop in each time we are through Cranbrook.
